Speak Easy is a free public speaking development group. The purpose of this club is to help improve and develop speaking skills, to provide an environment to practice and critique, and to seek out opportunities to speak as well as gradually establish a speaker’s bureau.
Speak Easy is open to all skill and experience levels; many participants have their own experience in public speaking but are looking to sharpen those skills. Participants must be prepared to interact with the group.
The group meets twice a month during the lunch hour in the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce conference room. Experienced speakers in the community are invited to share their knowledge and experience with the group through a 20 to 30 minute presentation followed by a Q&A session or workshop activity. We hope to gain insights from guest speakers that come from a heavier experience in public speaking such as best practices, tips and trade secrets, key things they’ve learned from their experience, and advice they might give to help others prepare and improve their speaking skills. Participants also lead self directed workshops to discuss different aspects of public speaking.
